The Old Timers Weekend event was started in 1974, shortly after Loch Raven District was split into Dulaney and Parkway Districts. Old Timers was a way for Scouters from the two districts to get together and spend a weekend doing Scouting. Through 1994 the wood-style letters were brown and the “running scouter” logo was outlined in brown. Since 1995, the “running scouter” has been outlined in black and—except for 2001—the letters have had black details stitched over brown or tan. In 2001, the letters were white with black details intended to suggest stone rather than the usual wood. The patches since 2013 have been wider than before. The 2013 patch included an image of the design of the first Old Timers patch from 1974 and the 2014 patch included a “41” for Baltimore Colt Tom Matte, who spoke at the event. 2017 was the last Old Timers Weekend. The 2017 patch commemorated longtime BAC Scouter Joe Simon, who was one of the founders of Old Timers weekend and who originally designed the “running Scouter” image. |
